At a glittering awards ceremony in London on the 24 October 2014; 12 year old Skye Meaker, whose photograph titled “Vanishing Lions” was a finalist in the 11-14 year age category in the 2014 Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition. His stunning image was captured in Kenya’s Masai Mara on a Greg du Toit / ORYX Private Photographic Safari guided by Greg last year. Skye is a very talented young photographer, and we will be keenly watching his progress in the years to come!
Acclaimed Wildlife Photographer Greg du Toit was a finalist in the two largest categories – for his image called ‘Fleeing the Flames’ in the mammals category and ‘Night of the Pelicans’ in the birds category. His incredible image above ‘Fleeing the Flames’ was captured on a Greg du Toit / ORYX Private Photo Safari at Singita Grumeti Lodge in northern Tanzania. Greg has now won 5 Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards in the last 6 years, spanning 4 categories, and has firmly entrenched himself as one of the world’s finest modern nature photographers.
