Home to the Namib, one of the oldest and most diverse deserts in the world, Namibia is a land of breath-taking desert scenery and surprisingly large contingent of wildlife.
It is a safe and stable country, with a tiny human population of just over 2 million people – all in a country larger than the state of Texas! It is a land blessed with vast horizons and great wildernesses, of burning-orange sand dunes and game-filled meandering dry rivercourses.
And then there is the night sky. Saturated with stars, Namibia’s night skies are utterly spectacular, and leave the observer feeling closer to nature and in awe of its eminence.
There are few wilderness destinations left where you can truly immerse yourself in the utter beauty of an area and feel like you are the only soul on the face of the Earth!
This safari covers an incredible array of photographic genres – landscape, wildlife and cultural, as we visit Sossusvlei’s dune sea, the desert wildlife mecca that is the Skeleton Coast, and one of Africa’s most isolated concessions – Serra Cafema, which is home to the proud and handsome Himba people.
Photographic highlights include desert-adapted mammals such as Lion and Elephant which live alongside quintessential desert species such as Springbok, Gemsbok and Brown Hyaena, while visits to a remote Himba village are both enlightening, and offer unique cultural photographic opportunities in the vast and inhospitable desert.
